Preservation Framing

Preservation is always a top consideration for us as we work with you to create a beautiful design for your artwork. When you bring us your artwork, important family items, certificates, sports collections, or anything else that is important to you, you can know that the framing materials and techniques we use every day will help preserve your items for many years and generations to come. With a combined 100+ years of custom framing experience as well as a PPFA Master Certified Picture Framer and two Certified Picture Framers on staff you can have peace of mind that your treasures are in good hands.

The CPF/MCPF difference

A Certified Picture Framer (CPF) only earns that designation after at least one year hands-on in the industry and upon successfully completing an extensive educational program that culminates in a 150-question exam. The exam, administered and overseen by the Professional Picture Framers Association, focuses on established best practices, materials and techniques used in picture framing. CPFs are required to complete a recertification course once every four years to remain in good standing. There are fewer than 800 CPFs in North America.

A Master Certified Picture Framer (MCPF) only earns that advanced designation upon successful completion of both a written and practical hands-on exam in which they are required to display the knowledge and proficiency in all aspects of proper preservation framing materials and techniques. They are reviewed by a panel of their peers and required to take a recertification course every four years to remain in good standing. An MCPF must be a CPF and recertified at least once before they are eligible to take the MCPF exam. There are fewer than 70 MCPFs in North America

Mounting

Mounting is perhaps the most critical of the steps in the framing process. With our many years of experience and continued education we stay current on the latest mounting techniques and materials available. Whether it's drymounting, museum mounting, stretching or object mounting, we understand and offer the proper techniques for your artwork.

4

Glazing

That's picture framer speak for "glass". We offer a wide variety of glazing options including glass and acrylic in finishes ranging from shiny to frosted to almost invisible. Our standard glazing is U/V filtering glass and acrylic products from Tru Vue. Tru Vue's products filter out 99% of the harmful ultraviolet light rays that will cause fading in works on paper.

Fit & Finish

The use of archival materials is only part of what it takes to create a frame that will last a lifetime. The final assembly (fit/finish) requires that certain things be done properly to ensure your artwork is safe and protected from the outside world.
